หนึ่งในคำศัพท์ที่คนไทยมักใช้กันแบบสับสนแล้วอายฝรั่ง คงไม่หนีคำว่า interested กับ interesting ทั้งสองคำเป็นคำ adjective ซึ่งหมายถึงคำคุณศัพท์ ซึ่งไว้ใช้ขยายนำหน้าหรือตามหลังคำนาม เพื่อบอกคุณสมบัติ ลักษณะ ค่ะ
คำว่า interested (อิน-เทอร์-เรส-ทิ่ด) หมายถึง สนใจ
ส่วนคำว่า interesting (อิ๊น-เทรส-ทิ่ง) หมายถึง น่าสนใจ
ฉะนั้น หากอยากจะบอกว่า สนใจในอะไรสักอย่าง ก็ให้พูดว่า I'm interested in... เช่น I'm interested in music ฉันสนใจเกี่ยวกับด้านดนตรี แต่หากพูดว่า I'm interesting จะแปลว่า ฉันน่าสนใจ ซึ่งคงจะทำให้ผู้ฟังคิดในใจว่า "ข่ะมึง"
